CD REVIEW: Drowning Pool

Drowning Pool released their second album with front man Ryan Mccombs this past Tuesday and after a few days listening to it I've decided to write a little review on it. This is the band Drowning Pool's fourth album (fifth if you count the live album) but only the first with a returning singer. Ryan Mccombs was great as the front man to Soil and was a good choice to lead a new direction of Drowning Pool, by direction i mean vocal styling beings he sounds nothing like late front man Dave Williams or second front man Jason Jones. So what does the new self titled album sound like compared to the Ryan debut record "Full Circle"? A little the same and a little different.

1.Let The Sin Begin
The first song on the record has a nice and different sound to previous songs which sounds good but is out of place with the remaining record.

2.Feel Like I Do
First single off the record sounds like what you'd expect from "Full Circle".

3.Turn So Cold
This song is my least favorite on the album, i am not to thrilled with the
beginning of it lyrically, like how the chorus goes and the music itself but it never grabs me.

4.Regret
I'm a fan of how the music starts off this song and the solo in the middle but
lyrically it sounds like something we have heard before from them, not really a good or bad thing.

5.Over My Head
This is one of my favorite songs on the album, starts off slow and amps up in the chorus, i like the lyrics, it seems like a simple song but it grabs you.

6.All About Me
This song kinda reminds me off "Sinner" era Drowning Pool.

7.More Than Worthless
Another one that reminds you of their last album, good song but not one
I'm going to go out of my way to listen to.

8.Children Of The Gun
The title kind of gives you a hint of what to expect, one of the heaviest songs on the record, the chorus got stuck in my head a few times, the song does it's job.

9.Alcohol Blind
I'm still unsure how i feel about this one, i like parts of it and could do without other.

10.Horns Up
This is another Drowning Pool song just like "Feel Like I Do", it has that sound you expect.

11.King Zero
Once i saw the title of this song i had to hear it (you should know why), it is my favorite song on the album, love how it starts with a Ryan roar and the solo right before the break, the lyrics are pretty good "so much suffering in my land of nothing" is my favorite line.

So there is my review. I'm not going to say buy it and
I'm not saying skip it, if your a Drowning Pool fan then you'll more then likely pick it up and if your not a fan then you won't. It really is as simple as that. I'm a fan and i picked it up and don't regret it for it's flaws.
